For the last 20 years, Gord McGuire has worked at the City of Hamilton, most recently as the Manager of Geomatics within Public Works. He has responsibility for all survey and mapping activities, plan production and archiving, utility permitting, and streetlighting. His diverse role allows the use of many technologies including GIS, which is a key system supporting the daily workflow of the Geomatics section. Gord previously worked in the resource sector performing seismic exploration surveys, as well as in the development industry for large residential and commercial developers. He has significant engineering data acquisition and layout experience. Gord is a licensed Ontario Land Surveyor and holds a B.Sc. in Survey Science from the University of Toronto, a GIS diploma from McMaster University and a Survey Technologist diploma from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.
