Dr. Hassan Karimi is a Professor and Director of the Geoinformatics Laboratory in the School of Information Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. His research interests include geospatial information systems, navigation, location-based services, location-aware social networking, Big Data, grid/distributed/parallel computing, mobile computing, computational geometry, and spatial databases. Dr. Karimi has published the following books: Indoor Wayfinding and Navigation (sole editor); Big Data: Techniques and Technologies in Geoinformatics (sole editor); Advanced Location-Based Technologies and Services (sole editor); Universal Navigation on Smartphones (sole author); CAD and GIS Integration (lead editor); Handbook of Research on Geoinformatics (sole editor); and Telegeoinformatics: Location-Based Computing and Services (lead editor).
