Samir Gambhir

Samir Gambhir is the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) researcher and manager of Equity Metrics program at the Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society (HIFIS) at University of California, Berkeley. He has more than 10 years of experience in the field of mapping, spatial analysis and web-GIS. His work experience spans across multitude of research areas such as social justice and advocacy, planning, health, and business with a focus on human geography. His areas of interest are application of spatial models and GIS technologies to advance research, analysis and policy interventions. Prior to joining HIFIS, Samir worked as GIS Manager for Centre for Global Health Research (CGHR), Toronto. Prior to CGHR, he worked as Senior GIS Researcher at The Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity at The Ohio State University. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 2003 with a Masters degree in City and Regional Planning. He holds a Bachelors degree in Architecture from India.
